Recently I was able to participate in a BLINK Grant project in Madison organized by Helen Sarakinos and Jessica Becker.  They chose 5 artists to participate in a temporary outdoor exhibition along the portion of the Yahara River that runs through Madison connecting Lake Mendota to Lake Monona. The point to the piece is just having fun. The Fool’s Flotilla, an annual boat parade coincided with the show and I thought seeing themselves floating by as part of the landscape would provide lots of enjoyment and appreciation for the River and what it has to offer.  My piece is a mosaic created from clear and opaque glass over a mirror base.  It is installed facing the river so that river travelers can see their reflection through the mosaic as they are passing by. They are observers and participants in the piece and it is ever changing depending on the day. In addition, on the opposite side of the mosaic, is a painting for those walking alongside the Yahara.

The show received a lot of press and I will attach some links here. Also, I have listed my project on Power2Give Dane county, a crowdsource funding site for art, in order to cover some of the additional costs of the piece.  Please consider supporting public art, Power2Give link:  http://www.power2give.org/DaneArts/Project/Detail?projectId=7207 (Donation window is now closed).
